The east of Ireland is a fantastically green and fertile part of the country and home to some of its finest heritage sites. It is comprised of counties Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford. Trident Holiday Homes offers a fantastic choice of self catering accommodation on the east coast in such diverse locations as Bettystown, Dublin City, Druid’s Glen, Aughrim, Brittas, Tullow, Thomastown and Courtown among others.

As Ireland’s capital, Dublin City, is situated on the east coast and due to its accessibility from the UK, the area has always been at the hub of political and social development not to mention trade. The heritage sites which can be found there range from Neolithic Newgrange in the Boyne Valley to Celtic monastic settlements such as Glendalough in Wicklow, from 12th century Trim Castle to 18th Century Wicklow Gaol.

The east coast has a huge choice of golf courses, which include the world famous K-Club in Kildare, Druid’s Glen and The European in Co. Wicklow.

This part of Ireland also has a strong equine tradition with a number of the country’s largest racecourses located there including Punchestown, Fairyhouse and Leopardstown Racecourse. There are also a number of showjumping yards and studs in the area with Ireland’s National Stud situated in Kildare and a wide choice of local riding schools that offer visitors lessons and trekking.

Co. Wicklow is known as ‘the garden of Ireland’ and indeed much of the east coast is particularly green and fertile. This makes it particularly popular with walkers and cyclists who can choose from the many marked trails in the Wicklow and Dublin Mountains, the peaceful toe paths along the canals of Dublin, Kildare and Meath or the scenic coastline which stretches from Meath to Wexford.

Dublin City is of course a well known destination for ‘culture vultures’ with its many theatres, galleries and museums but there are plenty of cultural activities on offer out side of the capital. These include the Wexford Opera Festival, exhibitions and gigs at the Mermaid Arts Centre in Wicklow Town, the Meath International Festival, concerts at Kilkenny Castle and various concerts at Slane Castle to name but a few.

Our self catering holiday homes on the east coast of Ireland provide comfortable, convenient bases from which to explore this beautiful part of Ireland at your leisure.
