There are plenty of other outdoor activities on offer locally such as dolphin and whale watching at Carrigaholt, surfing at near by Lahinch and power boating at Bunratty Power Boat School. County Clare is home to a wide variety of golf courses and a number of them are within easy reach of Liscannor.

Liscannor’s main claim to fame is that the inventor of the submarine, John Holland, was born there in 1841. The town is also known for type of black rippled stone, known as Liscannor Stone, which is frequently used in flooring.
