Since the 19th century, Kilkee has been known as a seaside resort made famous by its excellent sandy beach and natural bathing pools – the Pollack Holes. Warmed by the Gulf Stream and protected from the Atlantic by Duggerna Reef, the bay has earned a reputation as a really fantastic location for swimming. Today, the town as a wide variety of amusements catering for the whole family ranging from the local Waterworld (indoor aqua park) to Pitch & Putt and a great selection of restaurants and pubs. There is a fantastic choice of outdoor activities on offer locally such as;

  • A variety of water sports at Nevsail Watersports such as sailing and powerboating

There is also excellent fishing in the area both from shore and deep sea and boat trips are available from the harbour. Golfers will be spoiled for choice between Kilkee Golf Club, the famous Doonbeg Golf Club and Lahinch Golf Club all of which are within 30 minutes of Kilkee.

The town boasts a family run Thalassotherapy Centre which continues the local tradition of seaweed baths and offers a variety of treatments ranging from the traditional to state of the art.

The coast line around Kilkee is extremely dramatic and there are some fabulous walks along the cliff tops. This area is very popular with bird watchers and nearby Loop Head is a particular favourite with the added advantage of being slightly off the main tourist trail. At Kilkee, the Pollock Holes - three naturally enclosed rock pools offer a novel alternative to the sandy beach and are ideal for bathing.
