Aughrim, Co. Wicklow

Aughrim is an attractive little village with traditional granite frontages and a bowling green, set in the heart of rolling, wooded hills, at the point where the rivers Ox and Derry converge. It has a wonderfully rural atmosphere though it is only an hour and a half’s drive from Dublin City and only 50 minutes from Wicklow Town. The village is a regular winner in Ireland’s national Tidy Towns competition, the most recent title being won in 2007.

The countryside surrounding Aughrim is perfect for hikers and walkers with a great variety of marked walks and trails of varying difficulty through the local woods and hills, one of which starts right in the heart of the village at Tinnakilly Bridge and follows Ballycreen Brook for 4Km through Tinnakilly Woods.
