Achill Sound self catering holiday homes are situated on the waters edge at Achill Sound within a few minutes walk of the local shops, traditional pubs and excellent restaurants serving locally caught seafood. There are no fewer than five Blue Flag Beaches in the area, all within easy reach of the holiday homes.

Achill’s rugged landscape lends itself perfectly to a variety of outdoor activities including hillwalking up the islands two peaks, Slievemore and Croaghaun, sea angling in the Atlantic and Clew Bay, fresh water fishing in Achill’s many lakes (permits can be obtained from Achill Tourist Office), swimming from any of the Blue Flag Beaches and a variety of water sports. Achill Outdoors provides a number of courses for both adults and children in surfing, wind surfing and kayaking. The waters around the island have some fantastic scuba diving and Achill Dive Centre offers courses for all levels and equipment hire.

The west coast of Ireland has some of the best links courses in the country. In addition to the local Achill Golf Club, Mulranny Golf Links , Westport Golf Club and Belmullet Golf Club are all within an hour and a half’s drive of Achill Sound.

These holiday homes in Achill are less than an hour’s drive from the vibrant town of Westport which boasts an interesting selection of craft shops, traditional pubs and good restaurants. The well known Croagh Patrick mountain is 8Km from Westport and poses a challenge to any walker though the views from the top are spectacular! There is an interesting visitors’ centre at the foot of the mountain and adjacent to the National Famine Monument.

This self catering accommodation in Achill is a fantastic base from which to explore the island and the nearby Mayo coast.

Just back from a week's holiday in Achill and stayed in Achill Sound Holiday Village. Beautiful property, clean and comfortable and well equipped. My only gripe was there wasn't a separate bin on site to put recyclables, everything went into a large blue bin in the rubbish area.

Met the Trident property contact Martina on arrival, very pleasant and helpful, told us all about the island and places to visit and restaurants to try, etc. Property itself spotlessly clean and comfortable. Three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and everything one could need in the kitchen.Just a 2 minute walk to village and 3 to cross over the bridge. Big SuperValu shop. Accommodation with storage heating, if needed. Very pleasant.

Really nice property with a lovely patio area - the one we were in (no. 9) actually had two double beds and one single, so that's something worth bearing in mind that there seems to be some houses with twin/double, and others with maybe two doubles (especially if you have two couples travelling!). Kitchen had all the utensils we could need - we brought some washing machine tablets with us which were useful as could do a wash during the week (house had a clothes horse, plus there was an in-built tumble dryer in machine). No condiments provided as usual - but there was lots of washing up liquid/equipment which was great, plus tablets for the dishwasher.
The TV in the living room had a USB port too, so that was handy for watching downloaded movies/etc we had brought with us when RTE/TV3/UTV failed to show anything watchable. There was also a DVD player.

House had everything we needed. Lots of space for a toddler to adventure around. Bedrooms spacious with plenty of storage.
I do think that the exterior of the house could do with repainting. Windows in sitting room need repair as there was a good draught in through them on windy nights but these are just superficial things which didn't affect our enjoyment of the holiday.
The area itself was very quiet. This might be an issue if you have youngsters who want a good social life but this suited us perfectly.
Scenery around Achill island is beautiful even in bad weather which we had. Westport is a great town, lots of eateries, walks, pubs etc. Definitely worth a trip to see.
Enjoyed our family break in the "Wild West".

We stayed in this lovely holiday home from 12/07/2014 to 19/07/2014.
Very comfortable spotlessly clean house which suited our needs extremely well. Our 12 year old told us he felt very at ease and at home in Achill.
House was well equipped and within easy access of shops, etc. Quiet location, unspoilt scenery all around, ideal as a base for exploring the wider location, which we did every day.
Achill is a beautiful peaceful spot and this house was a real find.
Thank you very much. Your helpful staff will ensure we come back many more times to make use of your lovely holiday homes which are all around the country again... We have travelled with you before and are never disappointed..
Many thanks.
Maria Curtin.

Well designed interior. Well designed village - still had that relaxed feeling about the place. Good location for shops etc., A bit more attention required for housekeeping and maintenance.

Very clean and comfortable 3 bed holiday home in a quiet holiday village setting with views of mountains and sea. Accommodation is very well equipped. Would recommend this accommodation to somebody who is looking for a quiet relaxing holiday. Walking distance to shops, bakery, butcher, super value supermarket. Would need a car.

Just wanted to leave a comment about Achill Sound Holiday Village. I went there on a surf weekend with my friends. We travelled the whole island checking out all the traditional pubs, and the beaches are perfect not forgetting, the surf was great. The houses were very well maintained with all the essentials and in a great location right beside the shops so we could pick up the much needed fry up in the morning .Everything you need is a short drive. I would definitely recommend this location to others. Thanks a mil
