Located on a small holiday home complex, Glor Na Farraige is a semi-detached property enjoying a wonderful location on the magical island of Valentia Island which is part of the Wild Atlantic Way. It is located on the edge of the pretty little village of Knightstown, which offers a selection of restaurants, pubs and cafés.
Valentia Island which can be reached by land bridge or by a 5-minute ferry ride, offers incredible scenery, plus some great walk and hikes. Port Magee is just a short drive away which is the starting point for boat trips to the incredible Skellig Islands.
Visit the chocolate factory at St. Finian’s Bay, golf in Waterville, sea or lake fish, or just relax and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful island.
The local beach is ¼ mile from the holiday home along with a shop, pub and restaurant which are only a mere half a mile away.
Valentia Island on the southern Kerry coast is extremely picturesque and a real haven for wild life. It is a great favourite with hikers and bird watchers as well as families who come to enjoy the lovely sandy coves and beaches.
There is plenty to do on the island including sea angling with charters available from Knightstown, kayaking, sailing, power boating, scuba diving, rock climbing and abseiling from Dive Valentia.
There are a number of marked walks and trails through the natural sights of the island such as Geokaun - the highest mountain on Valentia Island at 888 feet which has 360 degree panoramic views of the Skellig Islands, Bray Head, Atlantic Ocean, Blasket Islands, Dingle Peninsula, McGillycuddy Reeks and Valentia Harbour.
There are a number of local visitor attractions including The Tinnies, the Old Slate Quarry, the 6th century monastic settlement on Skellig Rocks and Derrynane House & Gardens.
Valentia Island Sea Sports located on the seafront in Knightstown offers a wide variety of summer camps for all age groups, throughout the months of June, July and August. These camps include kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling, crab fishing, water volleyball and sailing. Sailing courses, and powerboating courses are also run throughout the summer months. The kayaking and water trampoline are open to the public daily, with wetsuits for hire.
Our self-catering accommodation in Valentia Island is a fantastic base from which to enjoy all that the island has to offer whilst still being within easy reach of Co. Kerry.
