"Convenient central location to visit a beautiful part of the wor"
We had a great weekend staying at Lisdoonvarna Holiday homes. The houses are really very close to the town, and the town is a good base for visits to the Burren, Lahinch and Bunratty.
We stayed in the bungalow, which was very spacious and fitted out for disabled access (ramp, wetrooms etc). The house had a good range of domestic appliances, including washer /dryer (handy with Irish weather), though the kitchen utensils were somewhat on the scarce side if you were trying to cook a big meal - peeling spuds with blunt knives can be quite the challenge, so I'd advise that you maybe pack a few bits for yourself of you are self-catering for any length of time.
In case you have a day of being confined to base (weather being what it is), it's worth being aware that the TV only picks up local 3-4 local channels, and there is no radio available, so it's worth bringing along a couple of Dvds or a radio if you think you might spend much time in the house and not be content with books or your own company (someone had left some Dvds at the house, but they were so poor, it was clear why they had been abandoned!)
We did have a problem with a very old mattress, but the caretaker (Debbie, who lives nearby) has let us know that these are now being replaced based on our feedback a couple of days ago -so the moral of the story is that if you have a problem, let the owners know straight away so that things can be fixed/replaced.
Tips for future travellers - If you are shopping locally, avoid shopping at the Spar where you can. It really is only a 'convenience' store, with little choice and high prices. If you need to shop in Lisdoonvarna itself, head instead to the Mace shop a few minutes walk away or to the butchers nearby. If you have a car, then there are larger supermarkets available in Ennis (Super Valu) and near Kinvarra (Londis).
Stayed with a large group in Lisdoonvarna using both the wheelchair-friendly house and two of the standard houses. The houses are well equipped, very comfortable furnishings and tastefully decorated. The houses are very well located both in their proximity to the village (literally 2 min walk) and as a base for exploring Co. Clare and surrounding counties. We visited Doolin, Bunratty, Galway, Limerick, the Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee caves and birds of prey centre etc. and they're all a comfortable driving distance from the houses. The wheelchair-friendly house was very user friendly and offered all the comforts of home. Seamus Carrie - 07/08/2013 10:44:12
Back from 4 nights in Lisdoonvarna. Location is ideal as you can walk to village and there are local supermarkets that are well stocked. Debbie was our contact and was a pleasure to deal with. The house was clean and well presented. This was my first time using Trident and I was very happy with it. Carmel Doyle - 05/08/2013 20:24:11
Just back from a week in Lisdoonvarna with my severely disabled husband, son and daughter-in-law... Because my husband is so disabled and his wheel chair is extra-large most hotels and self-catering accommodation are not suitable for his needs.
The house in Lisdoonvarna was absolutely beautifully decorated and perfect for my husband’s needs and those of any wheelchair user. The doors where extra wide, the light switches are down low, the kitchen cabinets are specially built for wheel chair users. There are two bathrooms and each bathroom is fully equipped for wheel chair user’s needs. There was more than enough room to put my husband's hoist in the ensuite bathroom to keep the room tidy during the day and enough room in the bedroom to get him in to bed at night.
The property manager Debbie is absolutely dedicated to customer service and went above and beyond the call of duty to help us while we were in the house and ensure we enjoyed our stay in Lisdoonvarna.
The house itself is completely equipped with linens, washing machine, dryer, fully stocked kitchen.
My husband went to Lehinch Beach, Doolin Pier to see Dusty the Dolphin and watch the sun set behind Inisheer Island; we took a day trip to Ennis to see Dromoland Castle and Bunratty Folk Park.
My husband and I have not had as good a vacation in years because most wheel chair facilities are not up to scratch. Thank you Debbie and Lisdoonvarna Holiday Homes for keeping your word and actually being wheel chair accessible!
We will see you next year! Geraldine Lenehan - 24/07/2013 01:54:11
Just back from a week-long stay in Lisdoonvarna. The house was perfect with more than enough space for 3 adults 3 kids (7, 9 and 18 months) Highchair and cot where waiting for us as promised by Debbie. Also we arrived a day late which was also no problem for Debbie
The location of the house was perfect within walking distance of the town 5 mins max and only 15-20 mins drive to Lehinch beach
It was like being at home as the house has all the appliances and comforts you would want.
Have already recommended Trident homes on the back of our stay and will definitely be staying with them again sometime in the near future.
Thanks again, Mark Quinn - 16/07/2013 15:57:47
Just back from a 2 week stay in Lisdoonvarna, the house was perfect in every way as per usual with all my hols with trident. It is an ideal spot within walking distance to the village and a short drive to two great beaches, a great time had by all especially the two dogs. Thanks Debbie. The bungalow at Lisdoonvarna is exceptionally large with 2 double bedrooms and 2 singles in another room. Both the master ensuite and main bathroom is fully wheelchair accessible with toilet access and a stand-alone shower chair provided. The kitchen & dining area is also quite large and I being a wheelchair user found the space more than adequate to move about in. Outside the rear door is a patio area with picnic table. The sun shines here all day and is very pleasant although it is overlooked by the neighbouring estate, but we had no problems in that regard at all. The living room has a TV with just the local four Irish stations, also a supplied DVD player for your favourite movies you might bring from home. It’s a cosy little room with 2 double sofas and coffee table.
In fact the furnishings and provisions in the house were very good too. Dishwasher, Laundry and Dryer machines with electric hob and oven plus toaster, kettle and kitchen pots, pans, crockery etc. There were also detergents, clothes and brush pans for keeping the place clean provided. The homes at Lisdoonvarna are only a 100 yards walk to the village and it is all quite level ground along the footpath ways. We were delighted with the service and assistance provided by the local contact agent at the site throughout our stay. Laurel bank - 10/07/2012 11:37:47

We have just returned after a week’s stay in Lisdoonvarna. The property was really clean and comfortable and Debbie the supervisor was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. I was particularly pleased with the travel cots and high chairs that were provided for my 2 young ones- having stayed in various holiday homes I have seen some horrors in my time! There are plenty of tourist attractions within a short distance and it was an ideal base for us to travel around. Would definitely return here and would highly recommend it to others. I stayed in a trident holiday home in Lisdoonvarna in september and i have to say
it was just fab. The house was brilliant. It was spotless extremely comfortable and had
everything you would need as regards cooking washing etc. I will definitely be going
with trident holiday homes again as it was one of the most comfortable holiday i have had. No hotel for me anymore. You can come and go as your please with so much comfort. I would highly recommend trident holiday homes. Kathleen Nov 2009
We LOVED our Trident home in Lisdoonvarna, County Clare. We stayed in the bungalow with our disabled 17-year old son and the house was perfect! Wide doors for wheelchairs, all one level and perfect bathrooms for the disabled (all tiled, no cheap shower unit and wide open, with safety bars). We are Americans, living in Dublin for a few years, and trying to see more of your beautiful country by renting homes in different counties and touring from there. We have rented before and this is the FIRST time that we've walked away without our son injuring himself or breaking something in the house. WOW! Mari Dec 2009
